
The Süleymaniye Suleymaniye Mosque in the district was built by the famous architect Sinan in 1557 and is considered the most beautiful mosque in the city. Both the equipment and the accessory buildings of the mosque are masterpieces of Ottoman architecture dar. The interior of the mosque is decorated with fine white marble and precious-glazed windows and seen as the culmination of Ottoman architecture. The side buildings of the mosque complex includes social institutions such as soup kitchen, homeless shelter, hospital and madrasas (schools).
